Wicked Announces New Cast From 11th May 2009

The smash hit musical WICKED, which recently celebrated its 1000th performance, is pleased to welcome Sam Kelly as The Wizard and Natalie Anderson as Nessarose from Monday 11 May 2009. The production also welcomes back Alexia Khadime as Elphaba.

Since the early seventies, Sam Kelly has been one of the UK’s best-loved and most popular actors. His many long-running television series have included Porridge with Ronnie Barker; ‘Allo, ‘Allo with Gorden Kaye; On The Up with Dennis Waterman and Barbara with Gwen Taylor. His National Theatre appearances include The Homecoming with Michael Sheen, War and Peace and A Funny Thing Happen On The Way To The Forum. Natalie Anderson is best known as ‘Nurse Stella Davenport’ in ITV’s The Royal, a role she has been playing since 2004. She also starred in the BBC children’s television drama series The Biz with Paul Nicholls.

Dianne Pilkington (Glinda), Oliver Tompsett (Fiyero), Harriet Thorpe (Madame Morrible), Ashleigh Gray (Standby for Elphaba) and Sarah Earnshaw (Standby for Glinda) have all extended their contracts. Current ensemble cast members Alex Jessop and David Stoller will take over the roles of Boq and Doctor Dillamond respectively.

Current WICKED stars Kerry Ellis (Elphaba), Desmond Barrit (The Wizard), Caroline Keiff (Nessarose), Jeremy Legat (Boq) and Andy Mace (Doctor Dillamond) will all play their final performances on Saturday 9th May 2009.

From Monday 11 May 2009, WICKED stars Alexia Khadime (Elphaba), Dianne Pilkington (Glinda), Oliver Tompsett (Fiyero), Sam Kelly (The Wizard), Harriet Thorpe (Madame Morrible), Natalie Anderson (Nessarose), Alex Jessop (Boq), David Stoller (Doctor Dillamond), Ashleigh Gray (Standby for Elphaba) and Sarah Earnshaw (Standby for Glinda).

The award-winning musical opened at London’s Apollo Victoria Theatre in September 2006 and has now been seen by almost two million people and taken £70 million at the Box Office. In addition to the London production, WICKED is also currently running in North America (4 productions), Japan, Germany and Australia.

Kerry Ellis to Sign Wicked in Rock CD at Dress Circle

WICKED star Kerry Ellis will be signing copies of her amazing ‘WICKED IN ROCK’ CD at Dress Circle in Covent Garden on Saturday 29 November from 2.30pm-4.00pm.

Currently starring as Elphaba on Broadway, Kerry Ellis returns to play her award-winning role at London’s Apollo Victoria Theatre from Monday 1 December 2008.

Acknowledged as “the West End’s most successful musical” (The Independent on Sunday), WICKED has already been seen by over 1.6 million people since its London premiere in September 2006. Booking was recently extended again and tickets are now on sale until Saturday 26 September 2009.

WICKED, the record-breaking hit musical at London’s Apollo Victoria Theatre, is one of the West End’s biggest success stories. This year alone the award-winning new musical has already taken almost £20 million at the Box Office. WICKED today announces the opening of a new booking period with tickets on sale over a year in advance for all performances until Saturday 26 September 2009. Tickets go on sale this Monday (1 September 2008).

Executive Producer Michael McCabe said: “As we enter our third year in the West End the success of Wicked continues to grow. We have enjoyed an incredibly successful 2008 and business is up week-on-week from 2007 which is an extraordinary achievement. We are now delighted to be adding our 6th booking period and putting almost half a million (460,692) new tickets on sale.”

Wicked – Harriet Thorpe To Play Madame Morrible

Harriet Thorpe will replace Susie Blake playing Madame Morrible in musical Wicked that has recently extended its run. Harriet has proved herself very successful actress with her role in The Brittas Empire and also with her recent role in theatre version of Sweeney Todd where she played the part of Mrs. Lovett next to Jason Donovan. She has worked with a number of remarkable names: Richard Eyre, David Hare, Peter Gill, Michael Attenborough to name just a few. She has also appeared in numerous movies, including wonderful Calendar Girls where she was the head of W.I.

Harriet Thorpe will start performing in Wicked from 14th of April.
