Theatre Centre Presents Rigged

A new play about the battle between choices, expectations and breaking free.

I don’t wanna be the hardest man in the smallest town.
I want something more.
Let me slot in the pound coin, push the buttons and watch the wheels spin.
Will I hit the jackpot or are the odds stacked against me?

Banned from the town centre, Nathan spends his days in arcades and picking fights in the street, whilst his girlfriend wants to continue her studies and dreams of independence. Are they heading in the same direction? Can the two of them escape their background of dysfunctional families, or is ‘the system’ stacked against them?

“An immaculately well-written, intensely powerful piece about four interlinked 21st century lives, each in its way as tragic as King Lear… [Director] Natalie Wilson deserves full marks for a fine piece of provocative and compelling theatre.” Susan Elkin, The Stage.

Theatre Centre returns to the Unicorn following the success of their previous shows for teenagers, Knock Against My Heart and Romeo in the City.

Running Time: approximately 60 minutes (no interval)
