The Last Ever performances at Pizza On Park

After 28 fantastic years of cabaret, Pizza On the Park announce the final three performers at this popular venue where the late John Dankworth celebrated his knighthood and performers from Mica Paris to George Melly and Broadway star Barbara Cook have appeared.

ANDREA MARCOVICCI, KAREN AKERS AND STEVE ROSS, presented By BARRY J MISHON will be the last cabaret artists to appear, with a black tie party on June 18 which will be the official last night for the venue.

ANDREA MARCOVICCI – the celebrated singer and actress lauded as “the greatest cabaret star of her generation” by The International Herald Tribune illuminates the man behind the music and uncovers the giddy, pensive, heartbreaking and impish lyrics crafted by Mercer.

KAREN AKERS is one of America’s more arresting and successful concert and cabaret stars. She is the recipient of the 2005 NY Nightlife Award for “Outstanding Female Cabaret Vocalist in a Major Engagement” and the 2008 “NY Nightlife Living Legend Award.” Ms. Akers has appeared in many prestigious venues worldwide, including Carnegie Hall, the Hollywood Bowl, and New York’s premiere nightspots such as Café Carlyle, Rainbow & Stars, Le Jazz Au Bar, and now makes her Manhattan cabaret home at The Oak Room at The Algonquin Hotel.

She has taken her music to the south of France, London’s Pizza-on-the-Park, to Russia and Barcelona’s Opera House and has performed three times at the White House. Karen’s film roles include the femme fatale in Mike Nichols’s “HEARTBURN” opposite Jack Nicholson and Meryl Streep, Woody Allen’s “THE PURPLE ROSE OF CAIRO” and “VIBES.”

Having opened the venue in 1982, STEVE ROSS  “the Crown Prince of Cabaret” presents the final performance at Pizza on the Park with a variety of special guests.  Steve will perform songs from the many shows he’ s performed there since 1982 including the songs of Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Stephen Sondheim and Noel Coward. STEVE ROSS rose to fame as a cabaret entertainer during his lengthy sojourns at New York’s fabled Algonquin Hotel and Ted Hook’s Backstage in the late 1970’s. He has spent the ensuing decades singing and playing  all over the world.
