Calendar Girls is Going Globally

London’s newest comedy, “Calendar Girls“, now running at The Noel Coward Theatre, which is proving to be a massive hit, is going global. In London, the show has almost £2 million in advance bookings, which is unsual for a play and normally associated with big musicals. Calendar Girls will launch in Brisbane before touring Australia including Sydney and Melbourne, It will then visit Hong Kong and Singapore in 2011.

Other productions of Calendar Girls will open in Paris,  Germany, Turkey and Cape Town.

The play is based on the real-life story of how the Rylstone & District Women’s Institute branch in Yorkshire decided to pose for a nude calender to raise money for Leukaemia Research instead of baking cakes and jam making. The current West End cast include Lynda Bellingham, Patricia Hodge, Sian Phillips, Gaynor Faye, Brigit Forsyth, Julia Hills and Elaine C Smith, who all play until the 24th June after which time it will be re-cast.
