The world’s biggest pantomime producer, Qdos Entertainment, has announced that the Wicked Queen is to have a new servant in her quest to defeat Snow White as Ann Widdecombe has signed up to join Craig Revel Horwood in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at The Orchard Theatre, Dartford, this year.
This is to be Ann Widdecombe’s first panto appearance and she will be playing ‘Widdy in Waiting’ to Craig’s Wicked Queen. This is Craig’s third year working with Qdos Entertainment in the role of Wicked Queen and no doubt he and Ann will be recreating some of the banter that occurred when Craig was judging her dancing so harshly on last year’s Strictly Come Dancing!
It was Craig’s idea to bring Ann into the pantomime fold as they have been such a huge hit together on the Strictly Come Dancing national tour, where they received standing ovations when they danced together which will no doubt be repeated this Christmas when Ann trips the light fantastic again with Craig.
Ann said: “I can hardly believe all the wonderful opportunities which have opened up through Strictly Come Dancing. Craig and I have had enormous fun on the tour of the show and I am sure we can make that fun infectious during the run of Snow White.”
Craig said: “Ann is extremely entertaining and such a sport. We’ve had a great laugh together on tour, though whether or not her dancing has improved is another matter, and I can’t wait to join her in Dartford this year for her pantomime debut.”
Michael Harrison, Managing Director of Qdos Entertainment’s pantomime division, said: “We were delighted when Craig approached us about Ann Widdecombe joining him this year on stage and are thrilled that she has signed up to play the role of Widdy in Waiting. She is such a fantastic personality and I am sure panto audiences will love her!”
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs runs at The Orchard Theatre, Dartford, from Friday 9 to Saturday 31 December 2011.
