Mark Dolan at the E4 Udderbelly at Southbank Centre

In his hilarious debut solo stand-up show, the star of Channel 4’s Balls of Steel and the hugely popular World’s… and Me documentary series, Mark Dolan literally shares too much about his life, and gives his unique insights into a whole range of subjects, including politics, married life and why it is that betting shops have those strange little pens. As honest as it is hilarious, this eagerly anticipated show is premiering at the E4 Udderbelly at  Southbank Centre on 24th May 2011, prior to a full run at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe.

With a longstanding background in stand-up, Mark got his first big break in 2000, when he reached the final of Channel 4’s live stand-up competition So You Think You’re Funny, a glittering event at the Edinburgh Festival hosted by Graham Norton and also featuring Matthew Horne and Russell Brand as finalists. A TV career soon beckoned as he went on to launch E4 as host of the brand new comedy show Show Me The Funny. He also launched More 4 as host of late night chat show The Last Word.

His first major comedy opportunity on the box came when he wrote and starred in Channel 4’s hidden camera comedy series The Richard Taylor Interviews (available on 4OD), in which he interviewed members of the public for a series of fictional jobs. He continued in the world of hidden cameras as host of three series of the hit Channel 4 comedy stunt show Balls of Steel, which continues to air nightly on C4’s digital TV channel 4 Music.

More recently, Mark has fronted 12 one hour documentaries for Channel 4, about some of the world’s most extraordinary people, in his hugely popular series “The World’s…and Me”. Among others, he met Yao Defen, a 7ft 9inch woman in China, Mohammed Daad, a father to 84 children and Sheyla Hershey, the woman with the dubious title of having the world’s most enhanced breasts, weighing in at a horrific 4.5 litres per breast.

Mark has written a bestselling and critically acclaimed book about his travels for Harper Collins, entitled “The World’s Most Extraordinary People and Me”. Mark is also the presenter of Sky Movies’ weekly flagship movie show 35mm.

Always keeping his foot in the door of live stand-up, he has been the resident MC of the popular Amused Moose Comedy Club in Soho, London, for the last five years.
