GHOST the Musical – Where will GHOST Premiere?

It has been recently rumoured that Ghost, the musical adaptation of the 1990 film, will premiere at the Palace Theatre in Manchester and not London’s West End as originally thought.  It is scheduled to open in 2010 although no details have been confirmed.

Everyone remembers the Academy Award-winning film, Ghost, which starred Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore.  The film has all of the makings of a true love story… filled with love, passion determination, tragedy, and more.  Sam (Patrick Swayze) and Molly (Demi Moore) are mugged walking home one evening when Sam is murdered during the attack.  Sam’s ghost helps Molly overcome the dangers she faces with the help of ‘Medium’ Oda Mae Brown (Whoopi Goldberg).

Matthew Warchus will direct the musical version of Ghost.  Music and lyrics are to be written by Grammy Award winners Dave Stewart and Glen Ballard.  Oscar winner Bruce Joel Rubin will adapt the original screenplay for the stage and will also write lyrics.  The cast which has not been confirmed is rumoured to include Laura Michelle Kelly to play the role of Molly.
