Wolfgang Weinberger’s A Guide To Sexual Misery – The Sexological Comedy Show is now playing at The Duchess Theatre.
With more than 500,000 satisfied fans, A Guide to Sexual Misery, Austria’s No 1 comedy stage hit, makes a welcome return to the West End and will now run at THE DUCHESS THEATRE from 11 December – 31 December.
People seeking the answer to these and other intimate sexual questions could turn to self-help books, magazine agony aunts or even seek therapy… but a damn good laugh in the theatre might just be the best answer! That’s precisely what you get as Wolfgang Weinberger delivers this unique show, which produces riotous laughter without ever needing a single joke in it. It is all based on rock solid science!
Is it a lecture, a comedy show or sex therapy? “The answer is a bit of all three. Some people come for the laughs, some because they think their partners might benefit and some just want to hear about other people’s sex life. But almost all rush off after the show with a few burning new ideas to attend to ASAP.”
A Guide to Sexual Misery was created as sex therapy by Austrian therapist Bernhard Ludwig to lighten up the oh so serious subject. The project evolved into a smash comedy stage hit, selling out the 2,500- seat Vienna Concert Hall. In 2008, it was a sell-out at the Edinburgh Festival, followed by a 4-month run at London’s Leicester Square Theatre in the heart of the West End in 2009.
Wolfgang Weinberger is a sex expert but above all a comedian with a very diverse background. One of Austria’s most talented comedians he was awarded the “Salzburger Stier”, the most prestigious comedy award in the German-speaking countries. He is also a graduate of the Vienna School of Economics and lectured at the University of Southern California where he got his MA in Filmmaking. His German version of the off-Broadway hit “Tony and Tina’s Wedding”, which he adapted and directed, amused Bernhard Ludwig so much that he asked Wolfgang to join his team. For the last 5 years Wolfgang Weinberger has been happily researching the funny side of sex and has become the show’s presenter in its English language version.
